Hi Cameron. Shot in the dark here, but I would advise you expand [or contract] the spelling of your Surname search. Often it was a Priest or other official who recorded significant info, such as marriages , births and deaths. There was a family of Vallee who once lived at Rigaud Quebec [on the Ottawa River] and one son died at Moose Creek Ontario. Be inventive with your spelling as others before you were as well.
I once found a Snetsinger relative who entered church with her French Canadian fiance named Jean Baptiste Sans Quartier and she walked out with her new husband the Irishman named John Kirkey. Good Luck . J.
