I just was reading an old post by you regarding the 82nd Regiment. You wrote, ""The first settlers in the Cove were soldiers who had served in the 82nd Regiment. John McNeil (Breac), John McNeil (Brown), Roderick McNeil, Robert Stewart, Malcolm McLean, John French McNeil, Angus MacDonald and Alexander Chisholm. John McNeil (Breac) and John McNeil (Brown) moved there in 1789."
Can you tell me the source of that info? The link above the quote was broken. I am researching an Alexander Chisholm and would like to learn if the Alexander who came to Malignant Cove was my family. I've located my Alexander Chisholm in Rankin, page 111 but he does not mention any link to Alexander and the 82nd. He does say that Alexander's son, Alexander Red, married Mary Brown MacNeil. This would be a link to the Alexander Chisholm and John Brown MacNeil families.
